Personal Data
After Ernest's death, his outstanding army pay and allowances amounted to £0/5/4d (5 shillings and 4 pence); this was paid to his father, Samuel, in August 1916. His War Gratuity was £6/0/0d (6 pounds exactly), this was also paid to his father in September 1919. The value of the War Gratuity suggests that Ernest had enlisted in approximately December 1914.
Ernest's mother, Mrs Eliza Marriott, applied for a Dependant's Pension; this was not given but was she awarded a gratuity (amount unknown) on 12th January 1917.
